Since summertime, and more specifically the month of June, is the most popular time for weddings, we are kicking off our Hotel Wedding Crashers feature today. And since we ourselves have a record number of weddings to attend this summer, which all happen to be destination weddings, we thought we could get out our wedding travel frustrations in this feature.

So throughout the summer, we will be featuring all types of hotel wedding stories from packages to honeymoon suites to hotel wedding heaven and hell.

Whether you are getting married, planning your wedding, or just taking advantage of someone's open bar reception, we want to hear your hotel wedding tips/stories/frustrations.

Send your hotel wedding stories and questions here.

To kick off the Hotel Weddings feature, we're starting slow with a Hotel Wedding Package from the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego. Having just completed a $52 million renovation and restoration, this Luxury Collection Hotel from Starwood is eager to get some weddings going.

MORE

The Beaux-Arts style hotel has 35,000 feet of ceremony and reception venues for the bride and groom to choose form, including the historic Crystal Ballroom (pictured above) originally built in 1927 as San Diego's private society ballroom. It can accommodate up to 200 guests and has been heavily restored.

The ballroom's original black and gold travertine floors have been restored, as have the opulent plaster capitals on the supporting columns of gold leaf bas-relief and the elaborate, hand-painted ceiling has undergone a painstaking refurbishment.

Plus when you choose to do your ceremony in here, the hotel will roll out a $40,000 custom-designed, hand-loomed wool and silk runner featuring a Primrose flower border. And yes, you can switch out those chairs for the more elegant chivari chairs.

Aside from the Crystal Ballroom, the U.S. Grant has the Celestial Ballroom which dates back to the early 1900s and can accommmodate up to 350 people. It features a vaulted ceiling painted in a "celestial silvery blue" with mahogany columns, and hand-blown Italian chandeliers.

But perhaps the grandest room is the 600-person Presidential Ballroom with 1,100 square-foot theatrical stage. If it was good enough for the 13 U.S. presidents who have visited this hotel, then it's good enough for your wedding.

Aside from venues, the hotel can also provide catering services and your own Wedding Concierge who can handle everything on site. Additionally, the bridal party will get top-notch service throughout their stay because the hotel will have circulated their photos around to the staff to ensure these people get VIP treatment. Seriously!

Plus the bride and groom can spend their first night together in one of the 47 suites in the hotel. If you're lucky enough the bi-level presidential suite will be open on your wedding night where a midnight menu will be offered, along with breakfast in bed the next day.

Naturally, this type of wedding is going to cost you but you know the old saying, "If there's a wedding, charge 20 percent more." Oh wait, um..no it's this one: "You only get married once."
