[Ed. Note: Hotel Maven MontrealCanajan alerted us to a place to avoid in Santorini. As always, this is just one person's experience.]

We stayed at several hotels on Santorini and nearby Paros Island, and have nice things to say about all of them except this one: Volcano Villas - Don't stay there.

MORE

We had a reservation at this hotel for 2 nights,( 6,7 June 2007) paying 120 Euros per night for a superior room. We added one more night,( 5 June 2007) and they changed us to a lower class room for the three nights.

The room was not a private balcony as advertised, and what we had paid extra for, the interior was old fashioned cabin style. Cheap wooden furniture, only 1 chair for both of us to watch the 12 inch TV. You must climb up a rickety ladder to the 'loft-style bedroom', which had 2 twin beds instead of one double that we had ordered,( great for a honeymoon!) and if you are more than 5' 10", don't try to stand up to pull on your trousers, you'll get a concussion!

The smell coming from the back window (the through ventilation), which opens from the bedroom onto the closed-in back staircase, besides being noisy, reeked of the bathrooms that it was venting, and to top it all off, my wife didn't sleep a wink all night because there was a lizard crawling around on the wall.

Our complaints were shrugged off quite rudely. We canceled the next 2 nights and left for another Hotel, Athenian Hotel in Kamari, on the other side of the island, which we highly recommend.
