It's been a while since we last posted a Viva Vegas report but we promise to be giving you the latest hotel news from Vegas at least once a week from here on out.

Kicking off Viva Vegas' return is this bit of news about the Mandalay Bay: the place has just completed a $150 million makeover on all guest rooms.

This is especially great news for the hotel which started to look extra shabby after the debut of its sister and far more swankier hotel, THEhotel. So are the two hotels equals? Not quite but it's close.

MORE

Straight from the Mandalay Bay's press release:

The newly designed rooms at Mandalay Bay combine chic elegance with modern-day conveniences featuring luxurious amenities, high-tech comforts and plush, vibrant décors for a hotel experience unlike any other.

Rooms range in size from 550 to 1,500 square feet with floor-to-ceiling windows, separate his-and-her closets, spacious multi-jet spa tubs, separate glass-enclosed showers, twin vanities, fully stocked minibars and two flat-screen televisions - a 42-inch plasma in the bedroom and a 15-inch LCD in each bathroom.

Other state-of-the-art amenities include wireless high-speed Internet access, cordless phones with dual lines and iHome clock radios for iPods.

There are five different types of rooms to choose from here. The Deluxe starts at 550 sq.ft or you can work your way up to the eXtra Bedroom Suite which has 1,500 sq. ft, a wet bar and parlor seating for seven, and can accomodate up to six people.

Opening in October will be the newest room category, the Sky View Suites. These will be 1,050 sq. ft. bedrooms located on the top three floors of the hotel which are accessible only by key-card. The suites have separate living room areas and an extra 1/2 bath for guests of the guests.

And just so you don't forget how far Mandalay Bay has come, may we present you with this picture?
