Clicky Mouse: Summer Specials in Orlando

June 27, 2007 at 12:34 PM | by | Comments (2)

Sure, there are swell summer rates at places like The Renaissance Orlando Resort at SeaWorld. One for $149 a night (Promotional Code LRW) is more than half the high season rate of $309. However, this does not include taxes or parking. Add those, and we're looking at $175 (and change) a night.

That math prompted us to see what we could do at a more upscale resort. So we tried The Villas of Grand Cypress and guess what we found?

The resort's website listed summer breakfast packages from $219 a night. Befuddled by the site's intricate Flash booking engine, we called the hotel directly and asked a gracious reservationist to plug in some mid-August dates for us.

Eureka! She found us a rate of $199 a night, which is lower than the hotel website's advertised rate. (Even the reservations gal expressed surprise.) Besides breakfast for two, this rate includes taxes, parking and the resort fee.

The $199 rate is for a Club Suite, which is a room with a sitting area. (For a photo, click here.) Just minutes from the Disney attractions, in the Lake Buena Vista part of town, The Villas of Grand Cypress has a far-from-the-madding crowd- feel to it, with a 45-hole golf course and equestrian center.

Note: When we played with some July dates, we could not find this $199 at The Villas of Grand Cypress. So remember that availability is, as ever, a driving factor.

Not bad deals!

Those are helpful numbers to keep in mind. Orlando can be good on the wallet if you know where to stay. Hotels aren't bad, but if you have a big group heading to the theme parts, check this out, it may help: orlando vacation homes

Deals = Specials

I agree. Although great deals, there are some amazing Orlando specials to be found with Orlando Vacation rentals in the Disney area and for families that would otherwise require multiple rooms in a hotel it will be more convenient to stay in one rental property. What hotel would host 8 people for $69 a night total for the group?
