Westin Hotel to Open in Mammoth This Fall

Westin Hotels always strike us as a boring-ish, business hotel in a top market city. So the news that the Westin Monache Resort is opening in the Fall 2007 in Mammoth has us intrigued.
Mammoth is a popular ski resort in Southern California located in the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. The Westin will be a 230-room condo-hotel located in The Village at Mammoth and adjacent to the mountain's 15-passenger express gondola.
It will have all the accoutrements of a Westin hotel that you expect--the Heavenly Bed, signature Westin WORKOUT rooms, and probably some green tea lobby scent.
It will also have what it calls an "upscale campfire restaurant", the Whitebark Restaurant & Bar, a ski valet, an on-site ski rental shop, and heated swimming pools and hot tubs.
Of course, a Westin would never pass up an opportunity to host business travelers so the hotel will have over 2,000 sq.ft. of meeting space and will specialize in small to medium-size corporate meetings and events.
If you're interested, the hotel's site has some construction photos posted but sadly, they are just thumbnails.
