MLB Star Reggie Jackson Strikes Out in Getting a Hotel Discount in NYC

Page Six reported over the weekend that former Yankee and MLB star Reggie Jackson threw a hissy fit at the Regency Hotel on Park Ave. in New York when the front desk wouldn't offer him a discounted room rate.
REGGIE "Mr. October" Jackson ended his career in 1987 playing for the Oakland A's - but he still pulls out the Yankees card when he needs it. The Bronx Bombers' former slugger was in town last week, and guests at the Regency were shocked to see him having an argument with the reception staff over rates. "He was upset about not getting 'the Yankee rate,' " our witness said. Jackson bitterly complained, but the hotel staff held firm and apparently didn't give him the discount.
Hmmm...we can't tell if the hotel actually has a Yankee rate or if Reggie Jackson was just trying to use his star power. Like does Bill Clinton ask for the "Former President Rate" or does Britney Spears ask for the "Once a Cute Pop Star Rate"?
Either way, out of curiosity, we looked at the weeknight rates at this Loews hotel and found that a regular room with a king-sized bed averaging around 300 sq.ft. starts at $529. Yeah, for real. So we don't blame Reggie for trying for a discount.
