There was a whole lot of Bowery Hotel news on the Interwebs this week, but we're not sure that any of it really adds up. Let's take a look back and see what we can divine before we head down there this weekend to figure it out for ourselves, shall we?
MORE
First, Grub Street had word that though the lobby bar has been open for months, the second floor bar is now going to be private event space. Sounds like they heard it from the same rep who told us that Gemma, the hotel's restaurant, wouldn't open until July.
The next day, DBTH reported on the second-floor bar after an "all access tour." We'd like to see some photos to prove that such a tour actually happened, but we're willing to believe the furnishings are nice and the space is huge.
So that's an open bar, that's not open, ready for guests, but only open for private parties. Got it? Us neither. Some TripAdvisor reviewers didn't have any word on the bar, but they did spill a bit about the restaurant:
The restaurant is not yet open but they do provide room service (although it had just started that week). Avoid! We ordered breakfast in the room and it was poor. The croissants were large but not particularly nice and they forgot to send jam/butter with them. I called to ask for some jam - they sent one measly individual jam pot and some butter. And only $46...
All of this is to say, we're headed down to get the scoop. Unless, of course, you know something we don't?
