Best Hotels for Fireworks in Denver

Fourth of July is just two weeks away so in case you are headed to a big city for some fireworks fun, we'll be taking a look at hotels with prime fireworks views. Have a favorite hotel for gawking at bombs bursting in air? Send it our way.

Planning to head to the mountains for Independence Day? We were going to recommend Vail, but an insider (don't you love insiders?) has informed us that Vail Village is smack in the middle of some crazy summer construction and is therefore not so picturesque at the moment.

Plus, the big awesome fireworks show in that area is a 10-minute drive away in Avon, a town with a much higher concentration of condos and residences than hotels. So no. In keeping with the "purple mountains majesty" theme we were going for, we present to you... Denver!

MORE

Check out Denver's sleek new JW Marriott, located in downtown Denver in the sparkling new Cherry Creek area. From personal experience, we know the service is some of the best there is--they're even willing to treat your dog as a VIP guest (seriously, the dog got better treatment than we did).

The lovely concierge wants us to know that for the best views of Denver's fireworks, ask for a mountain view room on one of the concierge levels--floors 9, 10 and 11--and expect to be able to check out the show from your own space or the Concierge Lounge.

The helpful employees over at the quirky boutique Hotel Curtis assured us that we will indeed be able to catch some fireworks from their hotel, located a couple blocks from the 16th Street Mall. They've got 13 different-themed guestroom floors (everything from Doublemint Gum to Dirty Dancing) and it's possible you may be distracted from the fireworks due to the weird décor accents--think yellow VW beetle-shaped alarm clocks. Whatever, it's fun.

Also located in Downtown Denver close to Coors Field's fireworks extravaganza is The Hotel Monaco, a consistent little property from our ol' buddies at Kimpton. The Hotel Monaco is pretty kid-friendly and the staffer we spoke to promised us fireworks views.

Oh, by the way, Colorado is phenomenally gorgeous in the summer. We're hoping you won't stay in your hotel room on such a spectacular July evening, but you can go ahead and do whatever lights your fire...work (couldn't resist). [Photo: Matthew Saunders]
