Best Hotels for Fireworks in Boston
Fourth of July is just two weeks away so in case you are headed to a big city for some fireworks fun, we'll be taking a look at hotels with prime fireworks views. Have a favorite hotel for gawking at bombs bursting in air? Send it our way.

Every Independence Day, Boston has a big bash on the Esplanade along the Charles River. The Boston Pops play, there's a guest performer (this year it's John Mellencamp, if you're into that) and everyone gets excited about it.
In fact, everyone gets so excited about it that over half a million people cram themselves into virtually every public space in the city to catch the show.
Ok, we're going to admit that the Boston Fireworks are actually pretty spectacular, John Mellencamp is awesome and we're just trying to play it off like we're too cool. Really, we're secretly dying to get to Boston for the Fourth this year, but would prefer to do so without joining hundreds of thousands of our closest friends. We don't know about you, but we'd prefer the blissful privacy of--you guessed it-- our hotel.
If you book a room at the Westin Copley Place, ask for a room on a high floor facing the Charles. You'll not only get a fabulous view of the fireworks, but since you're watching them from your room you'll be able switch on the radio and listen to John Mellencamp if it really means that much to you.
MORE
We hear the best views of the fireworks are actually over on the Cambridge side of the river. An insider also tipped us off to let us know that the Royal Sonesta has awesome views of the fireworks from any of their rooms facing Boston. As we've mentioned before, this is a fairly family-friendly hotel (read: a good number of patriotic children may be bouncing around the lobby). Unless you're planning on toting the kids along, you may want to steer clear of this one if a romantic summer getaway is what you're hoping for.
If you want to go for a boutiquey and less family-friendly hotel (i.e., a Kimpton), check out the Hotel Marlowe in Cambridge. Their rooms overlooking the Charles are likely to offer lovely views of the fireworks and honestly, who can resist a room with leopard print accents?
Oh, and just to warn you: Boston's famous rooftop pool bar at The Colonnade sounds like it would be an awesome place to party and watch the fireworks, but according to the hotel staffer we spoke to when we called, they close at 8:00 every night. Yup, even on the Fourth. Lame.
