Summer is here, which means baseball-obsessed people all over the U.S. are hopping in planes, trains, and automobiles to visit MLB fields around the country. To help these fanatic fans/hotel guests, we will be looking at ballparks around the country and give you a quick rundown of your closest, safest, and best hotel options. "America's Favorite Pastime" with some of America's finest second cities--what is not to love? If you got any hotel questions or suggestions or even better, firsthand baseball park hotel reviews, send them here and share them with other MLB fans--even if they are Yankee fans.

The Cleveland Indians made it big (for us, anyways) when the team was featured--with a fictional roster and management--in the movie, Major League. So we had to check out the hotel scene near Jacobs Field. At first, we were mildly disappointed to find that the closest hotel was only a Residence Inn. The second closest hotel was a Hilton Garden Inn.

However, while the Residence Inn hardly acknowledges the ballpark exists, the Garden Inn has a "50 Paces from the Bases" package which includes overnight accommodations, breakfast for two adults, parking for one vehicle, and two bags of peanuts for the game, all for about $124 a night. Of course, game tickets are not included.

Somewhat near to Jacobs Field is the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at the Arcade which is an eye-pleasing historic building with spacious guest rooms and a killer location. Unfortunately, the atrium inside the hotel had caused more than a few guests to complain about the loud noises from down below. And if you get a room not facing the atrium, you have to deal with a lot of street noise. So it's a lose-lose situation.

Another option is the Marriott Cleveland Downtown at Key Center which is completely smoke-free (as is the Residence Inn) and gets good reviews from past guests. Even better the hotel has a baseball package, The Home Run Package", which includes overnight accommodations, complimentary valet parking, a 20% discount coupon for the team shop at the ballpark, and breakfast for two adults and children under 12 the morning after the game. Prices range from $159 to $255 a night. Use code P42 to book.

Where Stray Rod and The Blonde Would Stay: Unlike Phoenix where there were no luxury hotels near the ballpark, Cleveland has a Ritz-Carlton just a few blocks away from Jacobs Field.
