Paramount and Royalton NYC :: The Ghosts of Schrager
The Paramount Hotel and the Royalton Hotel in NYC are two of Ian Schrager's early Manhattan hotels. You know, before he started the game-changing Gramercy Park Hotel.
But ever since Schrager left Morgans Hotel Group, these hotels have languished to say the least. Recently, The Paramount Hotel was supposed to turn into a Hard Rock Hotel after Sol Melia (which bought it from Morgans) sold it off to Highgate Hotels. Yet sources tell us that Highgate has no intentions of renovating the extremely hideous and small rooms. Can they at least get rid of the vinyl artwork/headboard?
Meanwhile, word on the hotel grapevine is that the Royalton Hotel will be undergoing some major renovations. Still, under the Morgans Hotel umbrella, the Royalton will close down sometime around June 10 to get a new look. No word on when the renovations are expected to be completed.
