It looks like Donald Trump's Soho Condo Hotel will get built afterall. Construction plans for the 45-story tower Trump Soho building at 246 Spring Street were finally approved by the city on Monday.
The planned project, backed by the Trump and the Sapir organizations, would be the first hotel in New York in an area specifically zoned for manufacturing. The plans were approved despite the protests of politicians and a coalition of community and business groups who maintain that the condo-hotel violates the zoning of the site, which prohibits any residential usage.
Naturally, this doesn't mean the neighborhood will welcome Trump with open arms. Already there are some news plans in the works to fight this "Trump Hole" as they call it.
