Hotel Marrol's a Hit in Bratislava

This week's cover story in the UK Times travel section featured a trip to oft-overlooked (but we rather love it) Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia. Apart from being full of the sights and wonders of Bratislava, it includes a great hotel tip too: Hotel Marrol's. It comes up second on the TripAdvisor list of Bratislava hotels and it sounds like there's good reason for it:
Marrol's, our centrally located, small hotel, was a few minutes' walk from everywhere we wanted to visit. Named after Mary Ann Marrol, a doughty Scottish traveller who stayed in the house at the turn of the 20th century, the hotel also won our hearts for its helpful staff and elegance. The welcoming lobby was like a private drawing room with vases of fresh lilies on mantel shelves and sofas round the log fire.
If that's not enough, previous guests report that it has a free (yes FREE!) minibar, superbly attentive staff and an excellent location. It also has a fitness center that's free to guests (not always a standard feature in Bratislavan hotels) and it's been named "best hotel in Slovakia" by the Trend magazine two years running. Average rates are $215 a night for a four-star hotel; it's not super cheap considering other everyday costs in Bratislava, but even those are rising, making Marrol's not a bad deal.
