Gladstone Hotel Not 'Kinda Sketch', Has Great WiFi
May 7, 2007 at 3:02 PM | 0 Comments

In response to last week's Annual WiFi Report, a tipster wrote us to tell us that the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto has a great free wireless network that worked pretty much all over the hotel.
Our reader also let us know that what we previously said about the hotel's neighborhood is not altogether accurate.
While this quote--"Gladstone is a bit outside the city (10 minutes or so from downtown Toronto) and the neighborhood is kinda sketch, however, there is a on-site Karaoke bar that should ease your worried mind."--is basically right, it leaves one with the wrong impression. The Gladstone is in the west end of the city, not outside of the city. The neighborhood is not "kinda sketch" (sorry to quibble) but indeed perfectly safe. It's located in the heart of one of the most expensive and desirable areas on the city.
In 1993 it was "kinda sketch".
We're not sure this view from the hotel qualifies as desirable but still the Gladstone moves up in our book for funky decor, a nearby karaoke bar and now, free WiFi.
