Marriott Says 'I Don't Know'; Gets Slimed with Nick Resorts

Marriott Hotels have just gotten a whole lot kid-friendlier. The chain announced major news today--a partnership with Nickelodeon to create 20 resorts called, "Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott".

Inside the Nick Resorts will be guestrooms and suites that cater to families:

Each individual "Nickelodeon Resorts by Marriott" will feature guest rooms and suites that cater to the unique needs of families including multi-bedroom suites, HDTV's and Marriott's new signature "plug in" technology. Pleasantly styled "kids' suites" will be themed with Nick's most popular hit properties creating an environment that kids will call home while staying at the resort.

Also each resort will feature "state-of-the-art pools and water features" (indoor water parks will be set up in colder destinations) along with live entertainment at "Studio Nick", a main stage theater space where popular Nick characters like Dora the Explorer and SpongeBob Square Pants will perform. The theater space can also serve as a conference room for daytime meetings.

You and the kids better really really really like Nickelodeon because it doesn't end there. There's also a "Nick Toon Cafe" where families can eat breakfast with their favorite characters, a spa and fitness center for adults, a Nick retail store where you can buy all Nick-themed products, a Nick Pix photo studio and a Nick CyberZone where you can surf Nick.com and Nickjr.com.

The first such resort scheduled will be at Liberty Station in San Diego, expected to open in early 2010. Yeah, it's a ways away. The other 20 or so planned resorts worldwide will open by 2020. And we're guessing that the Nick Hotel in Orlando--a Holiday Inn--will be snapped up by Marriott as well.
