In this week's "blog" from Bill Marriott, he talks about the company's 80th anniversary which they are celebrating this week. Bill mentions how his parents moved from Utah to the East Coast to open up a root beer stand in 1927 and from there (we gather) Marriott Hotels was born.

Naturally, the company wouldn't let this important anniversary pass by without a hotel opening, would they? Bill says (i.e. his administrative assistant types):

So, it seems only fitting to celebrate our 80th anniversary with the grand opening of the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche hotel, our sixth hotel in the City of Light. Rive Gauche used to fly the flag of another brand and is undergoing a big renovation. The European economy is growing and being stronger, so our hotels in cities like Paris are busy with business and leisure travelers.

Next up for Marriott Hotels? Celebrating Bill's 80th birthday. We kid of course, but it really cannot be that far behind.
