Room with a Killer View :: Marriott Sydney Harbour

We are suckers for a room with a killer view.  We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.

Any hotel where some of the rooms have a view over Sydney Harbour and the Opera House has to be worth checking out. And since the harbour rates in the name, the Marriott Sydney Harbour gets some plus points to start with. And in fact recent guests are generally the most impressed with the location, being walking distance from so many of Sydney's great spots. So don't be convinced when the concierge tries to put you in a cab wherever you're headed.

If you're arriving in Sydney from far away, you might be pleased to hear of another traveler's impression:

This was our first hotel in Australia. The pre-ordered limo whisked us in no time to the hotel. After the 20+ hour flight we felt like arriving in a haven of tranquility. A hotel like this is just what you want after such a trip. Sure this is no designer or 'boutique' hotel, but it is everything a good solid luxury hotel should be. Our room (executive suite) was superbly comfortable, with off course the wonderful Marriott bed and a good view of the harbour and opera house.

There have been some recent problems with long waits for elevators while some are being renovated; check that it's finished (scheduled for August 2007) or take a room that you can handle reaching by stairs! Others have mentioned problems with unfriendly staff, but the overwhelming majority names it a friendly place.
