Personality Hotels Snaps Up Hitchcock's 'Vertigo' Hotel

Calling all Hithcock fans....San Francisco's Personality Hotels hotel chain has recently bought two hotel properties, including the York Hotel in Nob Hill which was used in the Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Vertigo.
Also acquired was the Maxwell Hotel in Union Square. Now both hotels will be redesigned inside and out to become a hotel with...well, Personality, which usually means free WiFi, fun packages and hopefully, reasonable prices.
Both hotels will be designed by Thomas Schoos who recently did the Huntley Hotel in Los Angeles. The Maxwell which has 158 rooms will undergo a $10 million renovation and borrowing a page from the JDV Hospitality playbook, Personality Hotels will hold a contest to determine the hotel's new name.
As for the 97-room York Hotel, the hotel and its cabaret lounge inside (the Empire Plush Room) will get $5 million in renovation money for the exterior and interior. But naming this hotel is no-brainer. Once completed, it will be the Hotel Vertigo since Kim Novak's character in the movie spent the last half of the film living here.
