Another Rydges For Sydney As Avillion Changes Hands

There's one more Rydges Hotel in Sydney now. The former Avillion Hotel has been taken over and now renamed the Rydges World Square Sydney. Rydges plans to refocus the marketing plan a bit but the publicity blurb makes it sound like they're aiming for nearly the whole market: business travelers, leisure travelers who can get packages including cinema tickets, overseas tourists and ... the list goes on.

Previous guest comments on the hotel when it was still called the Avillion (and not owned by Rydges) complained about beds where you could feel the springs coming through, small rooms and leaky toilets, so there might be a bit of work for Rydges to do on it. But everyone was always happy with the central location, and that hasn't changed. Sitting above the World Square monorail station gives you easy access to heaps of Sydney icons like Darling Harbour and Star City Casino as well as the convention center; and the hotel is in the heart of Chinatown too.

There are opening specials from April 1 to June 30 including breakfast in deluxe rooms, starting at A$189 (just over $150).
