The Tides Hotel To Become a Chain

We have been kinda curious lately about what the Kor Hotel Group had been up to lately, even making a note to look into their latest hotel happenings. Then today, they release this press release titled, "Kor Hotel Group Expands ''The Tides'' Brand Internationally to Upscale ''Globo-Coastal'' Destinations" Globo-Coastal? Did someone just make that up today?

Anyways, the Tides Hotel in Miami has already been spun-out into the Tides Hotel Riviera Maya and the Tides Playa del Carmen in Mexico. So with this news, we expected some far-flung hotel expansion.

Not quite.

The hotel group will also stake out a Tides Tulum and a hotel on Anguilla in the British West Indies. (Phew, at least it's not another Mexican joint)

Meanwhile, interior designer Kelly Wearstler who is behind a lot of the boutique hotel decor these days, has just completed a renovation on the flagship Tides Hotel in South Beach, which (as we reported) had been undergoing some construction. Apparently, the interiors were redone, including the restaurant and a new bar, the Coral bar (to become a brand-wide product) and pool deck are expected to be completed by this August. It sure has come a long way from its Ace Ventura days.
