Bill Marriott Wants To Be Everywhere You Are

April 18, 2007 at 9:39 AM | 1 Comment

Good old Bill Marriott is still blogging away at his blog, Marriott on the Move and when we say blogging we mean, Bill dictating a piece to his secretary who writes it up while someone records his voice for the site's audiocast.

Nevertheless, Bill's recent "post" talks about Marriott's plan to open a 100 hotels in 100 days. That's right. From April 1 to July 2, Marriott is opening 100 hotels, from all Marriott brands, across the world.

They include our newest designs and some great enhancements in areas such as our guest rooms, lobbies and restaurants. In Paris, we're opening the Rive Gauche hotel, which is a hotel we acquired about a year ago - 750 rooms on the Left Bank. It will be one of the finest convention hotels in all of Europe. In Tokyo, we opened a brand new Ritz-Carlton on top of the tallest building in Tokyo - really exciting views and a terrific hotel. And we're opening a brand new Renaissance in Providence, Rhode Island.

Those are probably the most exciting Marriotts to open. The rest will be a mix of Courtyards by Marriott and their newly redesigned brand, SpringHill Suites. Oh yeah, and Residence and Fairfield Inns too.

So far, by looking at the company's press releases we see that a Courtyard El Salvador has opened, along with an Ashbourne Marriott in Ireland, the New Orleans Marriott Metairie, and a Tijuana Marriott set to open in May. Plus the Ritz Tokyo had its soft-opening last week, although the opening rates weren't much of a steal at $435 a night.

That blog of his is a farce. I tried to make a negative comment about their lack of "No Smoking" signs then ripping the guests off with a $250 smoking fine -- and guess what... never got posted.
