Ian Schrager Is 'Nearing the Endgame'

April 11, 2007 at 1:03 PM | by pbb | 0 Comments

The New York Observer recently scored an interview with Ian Schrager, our favorite gothic castle hotelier. With a downtown New York hotel scene so hot we had to map it, where's Schrager looking to expand?

Williamsburg, I suppose, or even downtown Brooklyn, where Bruce Ratner is doing a lot of work; around B.A.M. [the Brooklyn Academy of Music]--I have been asked to do a couple projects over there. I am thinking about it, but there is only so much you can do .... I haven't been entertaining offers about doing anything in New Jersey yet, but I might if the right project came along.

New Jersey? That's not very Studio 54. Then again, Schrager also has a couple of Chelsea condo hotel-style projects in the pipeline and a new plan for a  "private club" on Madison Avenue. But will Paris be on the guest list?
