Beware The Ides of Pomeranc

Remember back in January when the UK's Sunday Times Travel Magazine thought a January Six Columbus opening was imminent, well that came and went, no shocker there. However, we have heard increasing chatter recently that spring may mean open doors over at the Chinese Democracy hotel.

What do the folks over at Six Columbus have to say about this? Well, the Six Columbus phone number still rings over at 60 Thompson--below is a recent analog transcript we had with them concerning the eternal 6:

HotelChatter: Hi, any update on when Six Columbus is opening?
Thompson: Yes, soon. Within a month or so.
HotelChatter: Can we book a room now?
Thompson: No, call back within a month.

We did notice a promising change on the Six Columbus website this week--"Opening Winter 2007" now says "Reservations Open Spring 2007". Progress, no?

So there you have it, beware the ides of Pomeranc. If they are truly *this* close, which we doubt, the Thompson crew should open on April 1 as an ironic nod to their multi-year delays. However, in our experience "within a month" means check back in three months. So maybe they will open on 07.07.07, that would be so...2007. For now we will stick with our earlier prediction, until we get word to the contrary.
