The guestrooms come equipped with almost an overload of amenities including an oversized (Texas-style, we presume) desk, LCD televisions with DVD players, and cordless phones. Also, a 24-hour in-room massage service is available during your stay.
Now, the part we really care about--internet access. On the hotel web site, it says "Wireless Broadband High-Speed Internet Access" but when we gave the hotel a ring, they said the charges in-room were $9.95 a day. And honestly, we didn't expect anything less from the W.
However, we were pleasantly surprised to hear that W Hotels are continuing their WiFi improvement as the WiFi is free in the lobby as well as in the hotel's meeting rooms.
So far, W Dallas looks pretty good on paper. But when we hit up the TripAdvisor reviews, many guests had complaints about the service, the minimalist decor, the overall W-ness of the place and the expenses. As for being a business hotel, one reviewer said the place was great for a night out clubbing but not for business:
While waiting for the elevator at 8am, I felt like I was waiting in line at a club at midnight - dark area with colored lights and pulsating music. Not really the mood you want to be put in before sitting in a conference all day!
Another reviewer mentioned having to crawl all over the floor looking for outlets to plug in her electrical gadgets.
We're sure the W Dallas is an impressive place to do business and entertain clients like at the hotel's Craft restaurant and at Ghostbar but it probably doesn't offer the peace and quiet you need to do serious work.
Another sign this might not be the best list of new business hotels? Forbes included The London NYC which we all know has some issues with its "reviews."
