It appears that the offspring of Bob Marley are opening a hotel this spring called the Marley Resort and Spa. It's not in Jamaica, but on Cable Beach in the Bahamas. The connection is, according to the press release, that "the alluring hideaway in Nassau, Bahamas, once served as the Marley family's summer home, lovingly watched over by Rita Marley herself." They're making sure we get the connection when it comes to the room names:
We'd love to hear a woman's reaction when her significant other tells her, "Honey, I'm taking you to the Easy Skankin Suite!" And does the Positive Vibration suite come with a bed you keep dropping quarters into?
Their web site has plenty of detailed information, but zero photos that are of any use. What does this place look like inside? Even the photo gallery is just generic Bahamas photos and pictures of Bob Marley. (Like we don't see his image enough to remember what he looks like.) We're guessing that it's still one giant construction zone, but an artist rendering maybe?
Anyone with answers can email us here.
Be aware that the Marley name only applies to the heritage: this is no flip-flops and "music of the people" kind of place. Rates are listed as $450 to $750 for regular rooms and $600 to $1,450 for a suite. No word yet on whether that includes cigar-sized spliffs for a wake and bake.
