Westin Wants You to Unwind

Remember Westin's new Renewal program, where they hand out pineapple sorbet and books of Sudoku puzzles to help travelers recuperate from the side-effects of traveling? Well, Westin also promised to introduce their Unwind program in response to their discovery that 34% of frequent travelers feel lonely when on the road. And now Unwind ... A Westin Evening Ritual is here.
Vice President Sue Brush explains the program in these words:
Westin hopes to provide a richer guest experience, where guests can indulge, socialise and maybe even learn a new skill to bring home courtesy of each destination.
Most Westins hold Unwind evenings from Tuesday to Saturday, somewhere between 5pm and 8pm. Exactly what the evening entails depends on your destination. At the Westin Warsaw, for example, you'll learn more than you need to know about the Polish national food of pierogi; in the Westin Sydney's lobby, it's a step back in time to a historical post office; and at the Westin Puerto Vallerta you can choose from learning about Margaritas or taking an oil painting workshop.
Some of these activities all sound a bit hectic after a hard day of interational business or sightseeing, so our pick would probably be the activity provided by the Westin Turnberry Resort in Scotland: learning about and sampling traditional Scottish whiskeys. Noisy bagpipes do accompany this though, so we suggest earplugs if you're not a fan.
