This month, construction is expected to begin on the old Portland Square Hotel in Times Square with the hopes of it turning into a four-star boutique hotel called Sanctuary.

The hotel is from the same people behind the Upper upper West Side spot, Marrakech. They kindly emailed us some photos of what the hotel rooms aspire to be. You can still stay at the hotel while renovations are ongoing (the Sanctuary name change goes in effect when the lobby is finally completed) but really why would you put yourself through that?

Anyways, when and if the rooms get finished, each room will feature

an in-room bath, surrounded by adjustable leather drapery, to allow for an instant open setting, or a private room, at the guest's discretion. Rooms will also feature the finest European bed linens, towel warmers, flat screen TVs and rain showerheads.

The Impulsive Group (the hotel's developer) plans to have Sanctuary open for business by late 2007. Room prices will jump from $129 to $265.

One more Snapshot after the jump.

Re: Newly Renovated Room's!!

Wow! That is all that I can say. I stayed here in Late 2008 & was able to get an upgrade to one of the newly renovated rooms for basically nothing. The flat screen TV's made it more like home, I didn't have to pay for the in tub amenity & I was able to stay in a very modern room that is basically on Times Square! Go "Impulsive".
