Looks like Santa Claus dropped us a present under the HotelChatter review tree....
Last week, NYLO Plano opened and we called out for readers to send in their review and lo and behold, Stranger on a Train heeded our call.
I had to work at my corporate office this weekend so I decided to try the new NYLO Friday since it was just down the street. I booked a Pure Glass Loft King and got the discounted soft opening price.
You can read the full review here but we have taken out the crucial review points for you after the jump.
MORE

Staff:
According to Stranger on a Train the staff at NYLO Plano was excellent or as he says,
Not your typical burned out service people. Everyone was eager, fresh and helpful. A nice change from the chain hotels that clog this suburb.
Lounge/Bar/Restaurant:
I was really impressed with the bar/restaurant/lounge area. When you first walk in you think it is small but it keeps going and going. Lots of nooks and corners to hang out in with some privacy. Drinks were strong and the food was surprisingly good.
Bed and Bedding:
Great beds and sheets and no "wimpy" pillows.
Overall Look:
Decor and design really stands out. "There is simply nothing quite like it in Plano."
Room Reaction:
However not all was rosy here. Apparently, the suites were all booked up and so Stranger had to settle for a regular-sized room. A NYLO loft room is about 300-sq.ft. which was too small for our stranger.
I don't mind a tiny room if i'm actually in New York City or even Downtown Dallas, but this is Plano!
Similarly the glass window in the room was "cool" but the view is of office buildings, an upscale strip mall or empty fields.
The Bath:
Stranger was not a fan of the voyeuristic/open type bathrooms.
The sliding door didn't close all the way and the open gap at the top lets everyone hear your "activities."
However, Stranger did like the fact you could see the outline of whoever is showering through the curved wall in the bedroom, thus making a "Jennifer Beals fantasy" totally possible.

Lighting:
Some other annoyances were hallway light shining in through the room from the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor. The couch also had a blue light underneath it ("I assume to stop anyone from tripping") and a motion sensor bulb by the door that goes on with any movement. Weird.
Hotel Guests:
Finally, Stranger reserved his harshest words for fellow guests:
Loud and drunk was the order of the night. Hopefully this place is a lot more mellow during the week for business travellers. The concrete and the industrial style elevators really up the sound level.
