Cubicle Dreamin' is a feature in which we ask the hotel mavens to take some time out of their busy work day, surf the Internet, and tell us what hotel they wish they could beam themselves to right that very second--all on the slave driving companies dime, of course. Oh, like these people aren't surfing aimlessly anyway--at least now their purposeless clicking will be cobbled together into useful hotel stories--we hope. Have a destination hotel you are just dying to leave your cube for? Send the story our way.

In this episode, Hotel Maven Amanda K wants to celebrate the New Year Hawaiian-style...in her mind. Enjoy.

With all the rush of the Christmas holiday season and then the terror of landing with a thump in 2008, without all my plans for 2007 ticked off yet, I really feel like getting away some place calm, peaceful and a bit on the expensive side. I'm thinking Hawaii and I'm thinking the Hotel Hana-Maui because it's kind of away from any hustle and bustle and would be just what my nerves need right now.

Now I'm after a bit of luxury, but I'm not a complete snob, and I'll settle for a Superior Ocean Front cottage with a hot tub. For a nightly package rate of $965 I can get a gorgeous cottage, breakfast included, along with four massage or body treatments in the spa. Yoga classes are thrown in daily as well.

The Hana-Maui includes some free cultural activities for all guests, and I like the sound of these too, especially the hula and ukelele lessons (not at the same time, though) and the bicycles you can borrow to ride along the purpose-built path. A week or so there and I'll probably be ready to tackle 2008.

    question

That looks pretty secluded - which is nice, however what are some things to do surrounding this place?  I like both desolate places and busy places, I just want to learn a little more about this location
