As the office manager begins to crank up the heating vents until we peel off our sweat-covered sweaters, we start fantasizing about an escape to the snowy mountains of Europe.

Chalet Casale is the highest-rated hotel in Soldeu, a quiet village in the Pyrenees Mountains in the tiny country of Andorra.  Since it's sandwiched by Spain and France, most resort guests hail from these countries. Though Casale is owned by Brits and a few Irish folks, who garner rave reviews for their service, and shockingly, their cooking. Best of all, the place is cheap. Like hostel cheap. According to one traveler (who's clearly an enthusiastic Aussie):

Cheap as chips! But what value for money! The chalet is spotlessly clean, but the grub served up is absolutely unbelievable. After a hard day skiing, come home to fresh cake, coffee, tea, hams, cheese, eggs, croissant, then sit down for a three-course meal with wine thrown in for good measure. Brekkie is the same excellent service and standard. We could not fault this place! You are not staying in the lap of luxury, but it is superb for ski bums of all ages. We paid £149 for a week including flights and transfers. We could not have stayed at home cheaper! Top marks to the staff as well, who themselves are skiers, are prepared to put themselves out for you, and are genuinely great people.
