'So Stylish, It Hurts' :: The Hard Rock San Diego is Open

The long-awaited Hard Rock San Diego finally opened on Nov. 1st. We've been tracking this hotel since the days of early construction. And yes, the "So Stylish, It Hurts" is a real tagline for the hotel.
The prices are somewhat reasonable with a studio king room tonight at $285. The room includes a 42" flat screen HDTV, wired/wireless internet, and videos/games on-demand. A room with double beds was at $305 and a Hard Rock King Suite with connecting living room was only $335.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Rock Star Suite, designed by the Black-Eyed Peas, is available tonight. However, the band might make an appearance for the hotel's grand opening party sometime in December.
Technically, the hotel is still in soft opening phase with a grand opening set for Dec. 12th. Aside from the rooms (including 17 such Rock Star Suites), the MaryJanes restaurant (heh) is open now as well as all the facilities. As far as nightlife goes, Nobu will open on Dec. 5th, followed by two Rande Gerber bars on Dec. 6th. And we hear the place will also get a Pinkberry. Man, that stuff is everywhere now!
Meanwhile, the San Diego Tribune just did a piece on the general manager for the place Robert Todak, who previously worked for Ian Schrager for 15 years. His take on Schrager's way of running hotels:
"Schrager wanted things to be beautiful, he wanted his staff to be beautiful, and he wanted beautiful clients - and that was really what it was all about," said Todak, with a smile.
Yup, sounds like Schrager to us. And sounds like what the Hard Rock San Diego will be like as well.
