Art Basel News: Cream of the Crop of Miami Hotel Restaurants

If you're headed to Art Basel next week, we've got the latest on the culinary scene. The newest Zagat ratings for South Florida restaurants are out, and the survey says the Biltmore Hotel's Palme d'Or restaurant in Coral Gables has the best service in the region. (It surpassed last year's winner, 28-seat Italian spot Romeo's Cafe.)

The haute cuisine palace won't surprise you with its classical French technique, but the menu has gotten a little more fun lately, encouraging you to mix and match your way through more adventurous dishes. Look out for the baby conch salad and other seafood like langoustine with wild mushrooms and sweet potato. Three plates go for a surprisingly affordable $42 or five cost $70.

In other South Florida news, the Delano Hotel's dining room (above) no longer has the best decor in Miami, Zagat says. Blue Door, one of sort-of-celebrity-restaurateur Jeffrey Chodorow's many outposts, lost out to the completely over-the-top resto-lounge Karu & Y. Must be time for Chodorow to commission a Chihuly chandelier of his own to compete.
