Until recently we thought hotel loyalty programs were for Account Executives rolling their business travel points into a family vacation at a bland resort every year or two. However, funny thing happened when we started investigating these programs -- we found some of them are downright useful if you know how to cut through the red tape. This series is meant as a jumping off point to full fledged discussions on each loyalty program we feature. So comment, contribute, question, and cajole here.
Intercontinental Hotels has a very successful Priority Club Rewards program that includes all of their hotel brands such as ICH flagships, Holiday Inns, Crowne Plazas, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites and the new boutique brand Hotel Indigo.

Retail Partners:
There's a few retail partners such as OfficeMax.com, and The Sharper Image. The program also partners with T-Mobile, USA Today, FTD.com and Hertz car rentals. Additionally, the program partners with American Express and Diners Club for redemption offers.
Airlines:
Airline Partners include American, Continental, Delta and United. Miles are earned in different increments depending on the ICH property.

CREDIT CARD: Visa (Priority Club Rewards Signature Visa)
REWARDS: Depends on the property. You earn 2,000 points per stay at InterContinental hotels. You earn 10 Priority Club® points for every $1 USD spent (which is basically the room rate) at Crowne Plaza, Indigo and the various types of Holiday Inns. At Staybridge and Candlewood Suites, you can earn 5 points for every $1 USD spent.
WHAT WE LIKED: Awards that they have won (not that guests earn) such as Freddie awards for best web site, best bonus promotion and best member communications (five years in a row). Global Traveler also deemed it the best hotel program rewards program in the world. So there. Also, we like the program's many partners.
FINE PRINT: Reward nights at all-inclusive hotels and resorts require a 10,000 point supplement per night. (Fair enough.)
