Cubicle Dreamin' is a feature in which we ask the hotel mavens to take some time out of their busy work day, surf the Internet, and tell us what hotel they wish they could beam themselves to right that very second--all on the slave driving companies dime, of course. Oh, like these people aren't surfing aimlessly anyway--at least now their purposeless clicking will be cobbled together into useful hotel stories--we hope. Have a destination hotel you are just dying to leave your cube for? Send the story our way.

In this episode, Hotel Maven Amanda K stops in London. Enjoy.

I'm having major cubicle jealousy because my colleague finishes up at work today and takes off at 6am tomorrow for a month-long holiday in London. But I can comfort myself with the thought that she's going to spend that month sleeping on a friend's creaky sofa bed, while in my daydreams I can head to what I consider the #1 hotel in London, The Soho Hotel.

The Soho is definitely where'd I'd stay if I found myself in that mystical situation of money being no object. Tatler called it "the most glamorous hotel in the world" and that's why the average room rate is over $650. But for just $520 I could get the Sunday Siesta special, which includes a deluxe double room, English breakfast, a glass of champagne, entry to watch the Sunday film plus milk and cookies at turn down time.

There is British elegance here, there's Wifi, there are huge windows looking out over London, and there are just 91 rooms here so it feels a bit exclusive. And it sure beats a friend's sofa bed.
