Hotel Opening Rates: Gansevoort South Rooms Start at $595 a Night

We already told you that The Gansevoort South is accepting reservations on its website for January 28th but we didn't know exactly how much. Now we do and we yearn for the days when we were still in the dark. That's 'cuz deluxe doubles for January 28th are starting at $595. So much for any introductory rates.

We skipped on over to Perfect Escapes and found the exact same thing. And if you want a city view, that will cost extra at about $645 a night. An ocean view? Expect to cough up $810 a night for one of these rooms which feature two queen beds and a balcony. Anyone have get-rich-quick schemes we should know about? Oh great, now just because we wrote that the amount of spam mail we get just quadrupled....

    The Gansevoort has had so much hype for way too long...the bar has been set so high in SoBe that the Gansevoort will find it nearly impossible to
    surpass a place like the Setai. The Setai tried to push $600+ room rates but even they have had
    rates below $500 this year.

    Look at places like Hotel Victor that had the same cocky attitude when opening...and they hired punks to be behind the front desk...and tried to sell $800 + rooms just like the Gansevoort in NYC.  I spent the last 2 New years Eves there (Gansevoort) and the Concierge was so cocky you would have thought that he was royalty...

    Well it seems according to the webiste they won't be openning till Feb. 15th.  Let's see if they push that back again.
