More and More Hotels Adopting High-Tech Amenities

The LA Times has an article about how some hotels are going all out to adopt high technology. But while some of this looks impressive and geeky cool, it's not always working right.
For instance the W Westwood has bravely adopted the intelliChaise Personal Ordering Systems this past summer. These funky gizmos are attached to your pool lounge chair and allow you to order your drinks without flagging down a waiter.
The only problem is a waiter still needs to set you up with a code to use the machine as well as explains how it works. When during that time, he could be taking your drink orders!
At the Hotel 1000 in Seattle, the place is loaded with tricked out technology like HD movies for in-room flat screen TVs, electronic "Do Not Disturb" buttons and voice-over IP. But some of this is too much for the average traveler especially when you have to point the TV remote at a separate infrared sensor to get the TV working.
Nevertheless, hotel technology will be a priority for hotels in the future. Like the upcoming eSuites brand which will have personal computers in over half of its rooms. Let's just hope the WiFi is working alright.
