We last heard that reservations for the renovated Plaza Hotel on Central Park would be open sometime in mid-December but it appears you can make reservations now.

HotelChatter Tipster Franciscus L. writes us:

The Fairmont hotels website is finally up. Yet under accommodations, the ONLY category of rooms with a Central Park view are the Edwardian Park Suites which have an ongoing 2008 Winter rate of $2500 a night. If this is the case, it sure does make the $825 Weekend rate for a Park View room at the Ritz-Carlton Central Park a BARGAIN!

And the $1,000 room rate at the Mandarin Oriental is probably a bargain too. But if you're ok with paying these high types of prices because you must stay at The Plaza, the hotel's website warns you that:

The Plaza will debut on Dec. 3rd, 2007. Due to limited availability, reservations are currently being accepted for Jan. 1, 2008 and beyond.

We ourselves tried to book something for the first half of January and nothing was available. However, we found a king room with butler service in the first week of February for $735 a night.

Meanwhile, the people over at PointClickHome.com have exclusive inside photographs of the residences at The Plaza which will cost you a whole lot more bank than $2,500.

Even though the Plaza is going to be ridiculously out of my price range, I think the building is just beautiful, and I love the fact that they are leaving the rooms simple, and allowing the new tenants to do whatever they wish with them. Oh and I love the door knobs....lol.
