A quick mambo session for ya:

· The Tides South Beach has appointed a general manager--Shan Kanagasingham, who comes to the hotel with experience from Ritz-Carltons, the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong, Maison Orléans and Raffles L'ermitage in Beverly Hills.

· Speaking of Mandarin Oriental, the MO Miami will open its "Barefoot Dining" at the outdoor poolside lounge, Oasis, on November 2nd.

Guests can sip signature cocktails such as Oasis Breeze and Marrakech Sunset at the water's edge leaning on oversized cushions laid on Opium beds and Oasis Moroccan day beds, with beach bonfires against the Miami skyline.

Barefoot will run on Friday nights now through May 2008 from 6 to 11pm.

· Got unruly children? Ship 'em off to the Ritz-Carlton Coconut Grove for Children's Etiquette classes. The hotel is offering an etiquette class with "crash manners courses taught by Mimi's Manners creator Suzanne Willis." The classes will be held November 14 and December 5 from 6-8pm. The cost is $58 and kids will learn how to eat at the dinner table at the hotel's Bizcaya restaurant. Also kids will be taught to be seen and not heard.

· On November 3rd, Miami Beach is hosting the Sleepless Night Cultural event from 6pm through sunrise. Attending insomniacs can listen to classical music concerts, and watch dance performances, movies, comedy, theater and provocative performance art.

Yikes, we might avoid Miami that night. But if you're into it, the National Hotel is offering a "Sleepless Night" package for $453 that night which includes rooms, two-course dinner at Tamara restaurant, attendance to an all-night cabaret and a jazz breakfast from 2am to 11am.
