Viva Vegas: Long Check-In Lines Blow

October 12, 2007 at 12:16 PM | by juliana | 1 Comment

Check-In Line, Caesars Palace, 3pm Wednesday

MarkJ sent us this snapshot taken during his recent Jaunt to Vegas as part of the Virgin America festivities. While walking through Caesars Palace on a Wednesday, at 3pm no less, he spotted these miserable souls in line to check-in to the hotel. And this photo doesn't show the entire line. Markj says:

that line sweeps around past where you can see in a U shape.

We ourselves had some check-in frustration at the Bellagio at 4pm on a Sunday but our suggestion, a velvet rope that allows people one by one to approach the front desk, doesn't look like it helped here at Caesars.

Then again this is Vegas, baby. It is crowded all the time, not just Fridays and Saturdays. Plus Vegas is like Company Conference/Corporate Seminar Capital of the US and companies always descend midweek to partake in these events.

However, one tip we may suggest is to avoid checking-in at prime check-in time like 3pm. We've often checked-in at 1pm and found our room ready. If it isn't, you can still hand over all your info and leave your bags with the bellman. On the flipside, if you check-in at 10pm there should be no wait as well.

I have waited for 45 minutes in a check-in line near midnight.  The issue?  That is when people get off the East Coast birds.

More Vegas hotels could benefit from throwing in the hotel kiosk -- airport style.  Though wasn't the Stratosphere trying that?  Not sure how it worked out.
