HotelChatter Contributing Editor Tim Leffel moved on from Hungary and has made his way through the Czech Republic where he sends back his take on the country's hotel scene. Enjoy.

You ever walk into a room and feel you've been there before? At Hotel Drnholec in the southern Czech Republic, it's no accident. Owned by a Czech woman and her British husband, the Wornells have set up a pure British pub and restaurant in their hotel housed in a circa-1775 manor house.

They knew to leave well enough alone when it comes to beer though. You can get a bottle from the U.K. if you insist, but here where the best pilsner dates back over 700 years, there's no point really. Plus like any building here with a bit of history, there's a good wine celler underneath.

The hotel itself won't wow you with pillow menus and a butler on call, but at around $60 a night for a double including breakfast, it's a screaming bargain for Europe. The hot water cranks, the plumbing works well, and the staffers speak three languages. They even have free WiFi in the lobby and bar. Located near a recreational lake, vineyards, and several biking greenways close to the Austrian border, Hotel Drnholec attracts a mix of curious internationals and cyclists looking for a place to rest their weary legs.
