BREAKING NEWS: Six Columbus is Open and Taking Guests

Shield your eyes, the apocalypse is here. Eternally unopened Six Columbus has opened its doors to guests, so says Thompson Hotels co-owner Stephen Brandman.
About 50 rooms are open today and the good news is that they are way more affordable than the regular rack rate. Brandman quoted pod rooms going for $255 a night and deluxe rooms going for $425 a night. But we also noticed that Quickbook (which we wrote last week had steep discounts on the hotel) is offering pod rooms for $199 a night.
The bad news is that the Blue Ribbon Sushi restaurant which was scheduled for an October 1 opening is still about two to three weeks away. Also, the top five floors of the building, including the rooftop, are still under some slight construction which Brandman said was expected. But if there's any major problems, guests can talk to Brandman himself who is working in the front office today overseeing this soft opening.
For now we are sure the peeps at Thompson are happy to be making money and not spending it on more construction. And if Six Columbus turns into another 60 Thompson or another Hollywood Roosevelt, both of which (whether we like it or not) were outrageously successful upon opening, then those years of construction delays may have been worth it. Especially once rates kick back up to $495.
