NY Post Hearts GPH

The NY Post recently stayed in Ian Schrager's scary gothic sex castle, The Gramercy Park Hotel and to our disappointment, did not find much scary or gothic about the place, save for the "hunting lodge/goth lobby". Indeed the title is "Best of the Best" and this is the very last line of the paper's review:
It all results in a hotel that's easy to love, flaws and all.
The easy to love part for reviewer David Landsel seems to be everything inside the admittedly tiny room from the cluster of light bulbs in the bath to the English drinking cabinet along with (gasp!) attentive service. We all know that attentive service from a Schrager hotel is nearly impossible, but it looks like despite some negative reports, the staff there is remaining helpful.
So what were the flaws? Aside from a bad room view and a snooty concierge on the first night, there's not much too "wrong" with this hotel except for these bummers Landsel found:
· [The spa is] manned by a grumpy European guy who was gossiping on the phone as we stood there trying to find out just how many massage rooms there are.
· There's the business center, which is small, but quiet and private, but with an unforgivable $5.95/15 minute charge just to use the computer, a decidedly old-school move, no doubt instituted to keep the crowds down.
Also some previous guest did swipe the batteries out of the DVD remote. But can you blame them with Schrager charging $400+ a night?
