The Current Status of Hotel Irons

Sachi recently posed a question on the blog, Sachi's hyperbolic space regarding the dismal performance of hotel irons.
Ok, this is just a personal thing. Why are hotel irons usually not up to scratch? In almost every hotel they leak or they're pretty poor or just not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. It's as if the hotel doesn't trust guests not to steal good irons! Notable exceptions to this general observation include the Peninsula in HK and Crown Towers in Melbourne. Lift your game, hotels!
To be honest, we are not sure we have ever used a hotel iron before. Largely because we just assume the thing to be 20 years old and not functioning and also because we find that steaming up the bathroom by running the shower's hot water works just as well. (Although, the humidity can frizz your hair if you get too close.)
If you have any suggestions or experiences about hotel irons, let us know or even better, leave a comment below. Let's help Sachi get those wrinkles out.
