Over the summer we were stunned and a little heartbroken to hear that Kimpton was forgoing free WiFi in their NYC properties for both outsiders and guests.

Since then we learned the hotel brand is getting a bit stringent with the free Wi-Fi like asking guests to enter their last name and room number before connecting to the internet.

Now we have a report of the WiFi experience at the Muse Hotel in Times Square that did not turn off one guest, whom we shall call Johnny Glass Half-Full.

I just returned from The Muse in the great NYC and also found they are charging for Wi-Fi. I on the other hand was not put off by this fact. To me it is ok because i need a fast and reliable connection to fulfill my job duties. With Wi-Fi, the more computers are connected to it the slower the connection because it is processing an enormous amount of information. When it is a paid connection it is only accessed by those allowed to use the connection. Thus giving the users a faster connection.

If this means that I pay $10 and some change for that service I am glad to do so. I will just pass on my Margarita that night.

We admire Johnny Glass Half-Full's optimisim and he has brought forth an interesting debate. Would we give up our nightly vodka tonics for internet? A true dilemma indeed.
