Things Will Be Great When W Hotel is Downtown (?)

January 12, 2007 at 11:59 AM | 0 Comments

The New York Post says that a W Hotel might be springing up in downtown NYC in the near future.

The paper reports that developer Joseph Moinian is hoping to build a 56-story, 120-room, and 184-apartment unit building under the W Hotel brand at 123 Washington Street.

The 289,129 foot tower would rise 631 feet - about one-third the height of the nearby Freedom Tower. But it would still take a significant spot on the skyline, just south of the World Trade Center site.

This could always be a case of fancy hotel hype but a spokesperson for the Alliance for Downtown Lower Manhattan told the Post that other hotel chains are looking at setting up shop in Downtown as well. Maybe they're all singing, "Downtown, things'll be great when we're downtown." That's where we grabbed the headline in case you just thought we were overly excited about a W Hotel opening.
