A New Ratings Site for Pink Travelers

A new site focused on hotel and resort reviews for gay travelers was just launched this week. Called Pink Choice, it aims to ferret out the most welcoming lodging for this demographic. Think TripAdvisor, but gay.

PINK CHOICE now provides information previously unavailable so that gay and lesbian travelers can choose the type of accommodation that meets their needs, confident in the knowledge that when they arrive at their chosen global destination there will be no surprises, and they will be made to feel welcome."

The launch can charitably be called "in beta" at the moment, since reviews are few and far between. The locations seem a bit odd to us too. Miami and Ibiza we get, but Ottawa?

Oh well, we just can't wait for the reviews on the clothing optional Farenheit Hotel.

    I am one of the founders of Pink Choice and want to respond to the comment that our choice of destination is 'a bit odd'. The site was launched 3 weeks ago and we had a policy of allowing any hotel to be listed that requested inclusion. There is clearly a lot of interest in the hospitality industry over the power of the gay dollar! We have already been approached by several international hotel corporations as well as individual property owners wishing to be included.

    In light of this experience we have made a decision to allow any hotel that markets itself to the gay and lesbian community, in any destination, to be listed as long as there are accompanying reviews from gay or lesbian travelers who have stayed at that hotel. If any of the hotels which are currently listed do not have guest ratings and reviews by October 31, 2006 they will be moved to an inactive listing until such reviews are posted. It remains to be seen whether or not Ottawa remains as an active listing after that date!
