Maritime East Update: We Have a Location

Thanks to a tipster, we now have some more information about the Maritime East Hotel opening in the East Village:

It's the huge building on the corner of Bowery and East 3rd- although they're having to remove a few floors as it was they were trying to pass it off as partial student housing....Despite much neighborhood damnation - I actually quite like the building. It's quite a cool building, better than all of those cheap-ass ubiquitous boxes being built left and right.

They're aiming for late fall / winter 2006

Late fall? Whoa, how did this hotel manage to keep such a low profile for so long? (Pomeranc, listen up.)

However despite its nickname, Maritime East, we doubt that will be the hotel's real name since its pretty hard to insert a nautical theme into a stucco building.

That said, we pulled a Google Earth image of the neighborhood for you to check out so if you can spot the "ugly stucco building" that Sean MacPherson and Eric Goode are working on, or if you have more thoughts on the location and the quick opening date, let us know.
