Cheap Stays in Tokyo

Where: Tokyo, Japan
September 29, 2006 at 4:25 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

One brave travel writer hit up Tokyo and eschewed everyone's favorite hotel, the Park Hyatt aka Lost in Translation hotel, in favor of some cheaper digs. Ben Brazil's suggestions include:

· The Oak Hotel which has private and dorm rooms with in-room baths. Rates start at $26 but if you book online it's $18.
· The Hotel New Koyo which has private rooms on the cheap starting at $22 for singles and doubles for $42.
· The Homeikan (pictured) a traditional Japanese inn (ryokan) where single rooms start at $55.

Other options include the capsule hotels but you must be a man and largely tattoo-free to enter. That and not afraid of sleeping in coffins.

If none of these cheapie options appeal to you, start saving your yen now to get a $500 room at the Park Hyatt.
