One-Month Countdown to U.S. Grant Opening
Yesterday marked the one-month countdown to the grand reopening of the historic U.S. Grant Hotel and NBC San Diego got a sneak peek at what the renovated rooms look like.
Unfortunately, there aren't many pictures of the new rooms except for the one shown here. But they do have the scoop on the new amenities:
The rooms feature plush pillow-top beds covered in rich Italian linens and opulent pillows. On the walls, you'll find native American art next to 32-inch LCD televisions.
Another sign of current technology: The hotel boasts it has in-room safes that will fit a laptop.
Overall, there are 151 rooms with king-sized beds, 72 doubles and about 47 different types of suites.
And if you wanna take a chance on the historic place, which is now part of the Luxury Collection by Starwood after about $52 million in renovations, the hotel is offering their Grand Debut package. This includes accommodations in a newly renovated Superior Room along with:
· your choice of a Southern California Gold Medal winning red, white or sparkling wine
· the hotel chef's personal choice of fresh fruit and cheese to go with your wine selection
· a boxed, commemorative silver wine opener engraved with The US Grant logo.
There are other packages available too but we say do it over the phone so as to insure this place will be open when you get there.
