W Hotels Bring One-Word Branding to the Maldives

You can't throw a rock in this world without hitting a W Hotel. They are like the new Holiday Inns, except cleaner, "cooler", more expensive and full of ridiculous one-word names for the hotel services and amenities.

However, the W Maldives Retreat & Spa might be the exception to the W standard. The hotel recently opened on the island of Fesdu, in the North Ari Atoll with 78 private villas instead of hotel rooms and each comes with its own plunge pool. Some of these are over-water retreats and others sit on the beach.

Unfortunately, the W Maldives couldn't ditch the one-word names as Luxist reports that:

There is even a grotto bar, 15 Below which is located 15 feet below the island surface as well as Fire, a barbecue restaurant, Sip, a cocktail bar, and Wet, a pool bar.

Also be sure to check out Cash, which is what you are going to need to pay the bill since the villas over the water will cost about $1,000 a night.
